Former Beatles star Paul McCartney confirmed today that he would perform in Israel to honor its 60th anniversary. His decision is not a popular one among Islamists. Syrian Islamist Omar Bakri Muhammad stated that “if he values his life Mr. McCartney must not come to Israel.” Bakri added, “He will not be safe there. The sacrifice operatives will be waiting for him.”

The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) has also called on the former Beatle to cancel the show, saying that “Palestinian dispossession and Israeli apartheid are no cause for celebration.”

The September 25 concert in Tel Aviv will be McCartney’s first ever in Israel. The Beatles were scheduled to play there in 1965, but the event was cancelled.
