The month of April 2011 saw a decrease in number of attacks at Israel in comparison with the month of March. There were 101 attacks altogether, as opposed to March's 128 attacks – this according to documents published by the Israel Security Agency (ISA). Despite the decline in number of attacks, the number of injuries and damage was higher than the latter part of 2010 and the onset of 2011. The decrease in number of attacks was most notable in the Jerusalem area (16 attacks as opposed to 42 in March) and in the Judea and Samaria region (19 attacks as opposed to 36 in March). Despite the decline, two Israelis were killed in the Judea and Samaria region this month, one in Jenin on April 4th and the other near Joseph's Tomb in Nablus on April 24th. Six other Israelis being injured in the same event. The number of attacks coming from the Gaza Strip, on the other hand, was higher this month. There were 66 attacks (as opposed to 50 in March). This is largely due to a higher number of rocket attacks toward Israel. Last month, an anti-tank missile was shot from the Gaza Strip toward a school bus with students driving near Nachal Oz. As a result of the shooting one Israeli boy was killed and another civilian was injured (Apr. 7). Altogether, 66 attacks were recorded from the Gaza Strip (as opposed to March's 50 attacks), 19 attacks took place in Judea and Samaria (as opposed to 36 in March) and 16 attacks took place in Jerusalem (as opposed to 42 in March). In the Judea and Samaria region and in Jerusalem, this month, too, most of the attacks (32 out of 35) came in the form of Molotov cocktails (last month 41 of the 43 attacks were Molotov cocktails). During the month of April, 87 rockets and 57 mortar shells were launched toward Israel (in 63 separate events). This as opposed to 38 rockets and 87 mortar shells launched in March (in 47 different attacks).
