A militant group in Gaza says it is building longer-range rockets that Israel says would be a violation of their cease-fire agreement.
In a rare display of militant public relations, the Popular Resistance Committees showed off its training techniques, a rocket factory and what was said to be a new rocket capable of hitting Israel to CNN and other journalists.
The missile, called the Nasser-4, can travel 16 miles, double the range of the Nasser-3. The longer range would enable the rockets to reach larger Israeli cities such as Ashkelon and
Ashdod, the militants said.
If this is true, Israel said, the rockets would represent a violation of the 6-month-old Egyptian-brokered truce.
"If the cease-fire is just a front for extremists in Gaza to rearm and regroup, of course we have the right to act," Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev told CNN.
