JPC Policy Director Releases Book on Palestinian Civil War
November 11, 2008
Washington, DC – The Jewish Policy Center announced today the release of a new book, Hamas vs. Fatah: The Struggle for Palestine (Palgrave Macmillan), by Director of Policy Jonathan Schanzer.
"Given the challenges Israel now faces, Hamas vs. Fatah: The Struggle for Palestine is a compelling read," said JPC Executive Director Matthew Brooks. "Jonathan's book dispels the very notion of Palestinian unity, and deftly explains how there is not a ‘good guy' in the battle between Hamas and Fatah, two groups that seek nothing less than the destruction of the Jewish state. Moreover, Jonathan explains how 20 years of Palestinian civil war, not the failure of Israel or the United States, ultimately led to the collapse of the Oslo Accords."
The book, introduced with a foreword by scholar Daniel Pipes, has already received praise from Publisher's Weekly and Kirkus, as well as numerous scholars and Washington analysts.
"It is our hope that this book receives wide readership, and that JPC supporters recommend it to like-minded professionals, intellectuals, and public figures," Brooks said.
Hamas vs. Fatah: The Struggle for Palestine can be purchased through Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and other national booksellers.
