Security Assessment: Hamas Long-Range Fire Capabilities Diminished

Source in the defense establishment said Sunday that the IDF's ground incursion into Gaza has diminished Hamas' capability to fire long-range missiles at Israel.

In the daily security briefing held by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and top security
officials, the latter estimated that if Operation Cast Lead continues as scheduled, cities located 13 miles and further form Gaza Strip, the likes of Ashdod, Netivot, Beersheba and Ofakim, will soon be out of rocket range.
