Earl Cox has traveled to Israel more than 50 times over the past 10 years, however, after his most recent trip he's thankful to be alive.
Cox was literally knocked off of his feet by a Kassam rocket fired by Hamas.
"It hurt. It hurt an awful lot. I was grasping for air because it had knocked the wind out of me,"Cox continued, "Fortunately the doctor said it's just bruised bones and I picked my bags up and continued to move on."
Cox hosts a worldwide radio broadcast and during his most recent trip to Israel he was covering the war against Hamas.
After years of observing what he calls "bias" in mainstream American media, Cox has dedicated his efforts to showing both sides of the story.
Despite all of the danger that surround his travels, this roving reporter shows no signs of being afraid.
"No, I don't have any fear. I feel if i'm doing something that's right and if I happen to lose my life because of what I believe in, it's okay," Cox said.
Cox is especially passionate about defending the fundamental freedoms some Americans take for granted like being able to think, do or say as we please.
"As an American, I'm just proud to be an American and I want all Americans to appreciate this freedom we have and if they've gone where I've gone they'd appreciate it deeply," Cox said.
Even after a near brush with death, this international broadcaster isn't backing down any time soon.
"To tell the story and I believe that's the most important thing I can do right now is to use my pen and use my voice to spread the message of hope," Cox said.
