A pro-Iranian Palestinian group Monday claimed responsibility for firing seven home-made rockets into southern Israel and Western Negev.
The group, which calls itself Hezbollah Palestine, said its fighters fired seven rockets into the coastal city of Ashkelon, Sderot and the Israeli communities in eastern Gaza Strip.
"The shelling is part of our responses to the ongoing Israeli aggressions in Gaza Strip and West Bank," the group said in a statement.
The group also said it fired another six rockets on Sunday, forcing schools in Ashkelon to cancel classes, according to Israeli media reports.
The rocket attacks come after Egypt failed to emphasize a ceasefire between Israel and Islamic Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip.
However, Palestinian groups like Hamas and Islamic Jihad have largely reduced the rocket attacks against Israel following the major Israeli offensive in December and January.
Meanwhile, Israel opened two commercial crossing points with Gaza Strip for aid convoys, fuel and cooking gas, a Palestinian official said.
About 110 trucks are scheduled to enter into Gaza through Kerem Shalom crossing, laden with aid for international organizations, frozen meat, herbs, fruits and children diapers imported by private companies.
For the first time in months, Israel will allow three trucks laden with equipment for the power plant of the territory.
Another 70 trucks of wheat and animal fodder will pass via Karni crossing in eastern Gaza. The nearby Nahal Oz crossing will open for cooking gas and industrial diesel, said Nasser al-Saraj, deputy minister of economy at the Hamas-ruled strip.
