The Gaza Strip's Hamas rulers have made some rare criticism of Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel.
The Islamic militant group has fired thousands of rockets at southern Israel in recent years. But it says now is the wrong time for these attacks.
Hamas said Thursday that it was not behind recent attacks and that it was investigating who was responsible.
Hamas has been trying to reach a long-lasting cease-fire with Israel. It also is holding reconciliation talks with the rival Palestinian group Fatah. It apparently fears that new rocket fire could disrupt these efforts.
Israel halted a three-week military offensive in January to stop the rocket fire. But more than 100 rockets have been fired at Israeli towns since then, and Israel has responded with sporadic airstrikes aimed at militants.
