Hamas member of the Palestinian Legislative Council Yehya Mousa denied on Friday media reports that the movement intends to stop firing projectiles toward Israel.
He told Ma'an that the reports were baseless, noting that "such reports were not issued by Hamas" and that the movement intends to support national interests and stability in Gaza.
The London-based Arabic-language Al-Hayat newspaper had earlier reported that "the de facto Interior Ministry [in Gaza] will handle the issue of homemade projectiles on Israeli towns and cities on the basis of preventing this act."
The report added that "Hamas, which is heading the de facto government, informed factions with armed wings that the ministry will prevent individual acts of projectile fire on Israeli targets outside Gaza's borders."
The paper went on to say that Hamas intended to prevent firing projectiles in an offensive manner, but that "any resistance actions carried out against Israeli forces in the event of an incursion" would remain acceptable as a defensive measure.
