Osama's #2 Reaches Out to Hamas

Al-Jazeera's website today ran this story about a new audio tape by al-Qaeda's number two, Ayman al-Zawahiri, lending support to Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Osama bin Laden's deputy stated in the 25-minute recording, "We tell our mujahidin brothers in the Hamas movement that we and all the Islamic nation stand by your side."

Military analysts have raised the prospect of al-Qaeda activity in Gaza in recent months. Could this be an indication of future cooperation in Hamastan?
