The Jordan Times reports today that the number of civilians killed in Iraq fell sharply in June to the lowest monthly total since the U.S. surge was launched in February. Civilian deaths dropped 36% drop from May.
The death toll is still too high in Iraq, thanks to Iranian-sponsored violence, al-Qaeda terrorist attacks, and Shi'ite-Sunni internecine bloodshed. But it is affirming to see a drop in violence.
Only time will tell if the surge is working.
