The Gaza Power Play

Franco Frattini, European Commissioner for Justice Freedom and Security, told attendees at this year’s Herzliya Conference that Israel has a right to defend itself against Qassam rockets, and expressed his regret at EU treatment of Israel, Ynet reports.

Compare this to Amr Moussa, the Arab League secretary-general, who told al-Jazeera that what was happening in Gaza was a “war crime.”

As the Jerusalem Post editorial board notes, “Power outages and gas shortages are no picnic, but they cannot compare to the deadly and indiscriminate threat from missiles landing on kindergartens and homes.”

Israel is now bowing to international pressure and easing its blockade of the Gaza Strip, USA Today reports. Will Hamas stop the rockets?
