After the brutal slaying of 8 students in Jerusalem, the United Nations was unable to pass a condemnation. Libya blocked it, seeking a "balanced" resolution reflecting Israel's operations in Gaza.
Of course, moral equivalency at the U.N. is not new. A 2008 U.N. report justifies attacks against Israel as the "consequence of colonialism, apartheid or occupation."
At the behest of an Iranian official, the U.N. recently held a moment of silence for "martyrs" recently killed in Gaza. But there has been no recognition of Israeli victims of Hamas terror. Rather, the U.N. consistently condemns Israel's efforts to halt Hamas rockets.
