Demonstrations persisted throughout Iran this week. Today, supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ruled out massive election fraud and warned protestors to get off the streets, blaming foreign press groups for exploiting differences within the Islamic Republic.
Not all foreign organizations have weighed in, though. Terrorism specialist Steven Emerson recently wrote a hard-hitting piece on the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), pointing out that the self-appointed mouthpiece for Muslim Americans still has not mustered a call for calm in Iran. CAIR, of course, was named co-conspirator in the federal case against the Holy Land Foundation Trust.
But CAIR is not alone in its silence. JPC reviewed the websites of other co-conspirators, including ISNA and NAIT. None have addressed the election controversy. This silence, in the face of blatant repression of Iranian Muslims, calls into question what such groups seek to accomplish in the U.S.
