this is nonsense. 1 of every 20 prc nationals? crazy talk. as a foreign correspondent i reported on the falungong crackdown, and feel strongly it was a mistake precisely because of how marginal the movement was, lack of freedom of religion does the most damage to china's own rulers, falungong was never a genuine threat and never remotely as large as gutmann suggests. but irresponsible figures like this undermine an otherwise persuasive argument. please produce said chinese state security documentation, it will not be hard to debunk if it does exist (which i stake my three decades' reputation as a reporter in china it doesn't).
