The Roots of the Problem

Reader comment on: Obama's Mistaken Palestinian and Israeli Priorities

Submitted by Abdul Ameer (United States), May 17, 2011 23:06

How is it possible to write a supposedly informed and learned article about the "Palestinian-Israeli" conflict without even mentioning the reason for the conflict? All the evidence indicates that we are not dealing with a territorial conflict which can be solved by drawing new lines on an old map. And, it is not a question of Hamas and Fatah being "terrorist". The fact is that this is NOT a "Palestinian-Israeli" conflict. It is not even an "Arab-Israeli" conflict, as it used to be called. Notice that all the Moslem-majority countries refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state. Most of the Moslem-majority countries are NOT Arab. They are anti-Israel only because they are Moslem. Iran, which is bent upon destroyng Israel and the Jews is not Arab. We are dealing with an Islamic war on the Jews, as the Hamas Charter makes perfectly clear. This is a religious war of Islam against the Jews. The Koran and Muhammad require war against the Jews as a special subset of the general Islamic war against non-Moslems. The Koran (9:29) requires war against the Jews and Christians, and their humiliating subjugation to Moslems. Jewish sovereignty over Moslems is prohibited. The very existence of Israel as a Jewish state is an offense to religious Moslems because it defies the decrees of Allah. The following statement by Muhammad, which is part of the Hamas Charter, is considered holy and sacred text by all religious Moslems:

-- Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, 'O 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.'

No analysis of the situation regarding Israel makes any sense without considering the religious dimension, namely, the Islamic war on the Jews.
