A Smart Israel
Reader comment on: Gaza Flotilla, Take 2

Israel could deal with this, and any future floatillas, effectively and with zero political fallout. Israel is a member of the U.N. and has the right to publically and unequivocally request that the U.N. have their weapons inspectors intercept and search each and every floatilla ship before permitting entry. Israeli inspectors must be permitted to accompany the U.N. inspectors. This puts the owness on the U.N. to actually live-up to its responsibilty. If they decline Israel's request, then the U.N. must accept responsibilty for any unfortunate events that follow. Israel is, as we say, then off the hook, and the U.N. further damages their already tarnished image.
Is Israel smart enough? that is the question.
