Hamas & Fatah

Reader comment on: Hamas vs. Fatah

Submitted by Samuel, Jan 25, 2009 05:58

What occurred in Gaza in June 2007, when Hamas took control of the territory, clearly highlights the ideological differences between the two factions. Let them continue the violence against eah other, but at the same time keep it contained to the Strip. This is where Israel, with the U.S, and the European Union, must co-operate in patrolling the coastline off Gaza and close to Rafah. The smuggling tunnels must be constanly checked on both sides Israel & Egypt and demolished when they reappear. There are no more excuses for Hamas, Hezbollah, other Islamic groups and the main protagonist Iran to look for trouble. Gaza is Egyptian territory and must be governed by her, not rogue trouble-making elements. The Obama administration and the Europeans better get their act together. Otherwise, very soon we'll be back to the same nonsense again.
