Reader comment on: Defund Egypt If It Won't Close Tunnels
in response to reader comment: Defund israel

Simple logic says Israel is a modern, progressive secular democratic country with all the govt. institutions run by the people for the people. Egypt is the exact opposite with the country run on a one party state. The incumbent President /Prime Minister Hosni Mubarak has been in power for way too long and now his son is being groomed to take over. The Muslim Brotherhood an extremist, religious party would like to create an Islamic Republic, but is not permitted to. The point being a democratic secular state versus a fractuous one party state which can't or won't exercise control over its territory (Gaza Strip). So, decrease Egypt's American aid until it can control Hamas and other renegade Islamic groups in the Strip. Israel needs increased aid to stop rebuilding of tunnels and other supply routes into the region .
