Reader comment on: Defund Egypt If It Won't Close Tunnels

Submitted by Samuel, May 10, 2009 10:32

What will change now that couldn,t work before? After the discovery of a Hezbollah terrorist cell in Egypt recently, suddenly there is a belated attempt to patch over the cracks. That won,t work as they are temporary measures ;the real issue is who or what is going to implement the necessary measures to prevent Hamas from replenishing it,s weapons stockpile ?Increased aid to Egypt is simply money(American taxpayers/ down the drain as theEgyptian border guards are corruptible and eager to supplement their meagre wages by taking money from local Bedouins involved in the tunnel digging etc. business.Decrease the aid to Egypt substantially and pass the savings onto Israel where it can be propely controlled and utilised ;monitoring the tunnellers and their paymasters on the other side of the border (Gaza). For to long the UN and it,s surrogates(UNRWA) have turned a blind eye to whats happening on the ground in Gaza ,thats how Hamas got to be so powerful in the region .One final question ;who is supposedto be administering Gaza under international law ? Egypt ,Hamas ,Fatah ,Islamic thugs/bandits ,UNRWA ,?
