Low Information Taxpayers

Reader comment on: The Federal Tax Code - Irreparably Broken?

Submitted by Brenda Vassaur Taylor (United States), Oct 12, 2013 05:01

We may opine that we have too many "low information voters." I think that goes hand-in-hand with our vast numbers of "low information taxpayers." If they only knew what you are saying here, even the young people could understand they do not want their tax dollars withheld from their checks going to those who have never paid in taxes...not to mention to the ones simply stealing the money...not to mention to the ones being paid to hand out the money to those stealing it. If only they knew, but surely it is too hard to understand for all the noise....per your James Madison quote.

The "pay your fair share of taxes," screamed during the last presidential election by the 51% who paid little or none....may appear different to our low info taxpayer if they only learned these few facts you present related to the EIC.

Keep up the good work and continue to spread the word. I think we who do understand these things are to blame in part...for not teaching this clearly to all we know.

Brenda
