Oil
Reader comment on: 'Oil Itself Is a Problem'

I believe that you are all wet on your assumptions that we can become independent from oil by Solar, Wind or any other "green' systems. There is no way that those systems can not be in place in a way that our society can afford, both in time nor money. Even should this be practical, which it can not be, it would be many years before a transition could be attained.
What can be attained, to make us independent from the Mullahs and Kings, is the fact that we have so much access, within our own country, to provide us with all of the nessasary energy we need. New inovations for new cars will reduce the amount of CO2 that are expelled into the atmosphere. The cost would be considerably less and drilling for enough oil to make us independent of foreign oil will make the terrorist less powerful.
