The Jewish Liberal Paradox

As a Jew and supporter of Israel, I am always infuriated at the staggering obtuseness of pro-Obama liberal Jews. My deluded co-religionists have not only embraced the very candidate most favored by Hamas, Chavez et al, they financed the man and placed him in power. Given all ot this, a serious examination such as Mr Podhoretz's effort is overdue. The reasons for this seeming self-betrayal comes, I believe, from many sources. One may be, a noble tradition of seeking social justice that has been degraded by a general "dumbing down" of the average Jewish voter (along with the rest of the US population). Slogans have replaced reflection and social pressures to be "politically correct" cow the less courageous among us. A distrust of the Republican party as the party of wealth and priviledge and quotas and "gentlemen's agreements" during the early and mid 20th century is also to blame. This reputation was sadly, if not always justly , earned. I could also blame the uninspiring and even quixotic campagn of John McCain. Be that as it may, the damage done and as yet to be done by this administration to American and Jewish interests is, I trust, alarming even the most doltish Jewish Democrats but then, I've always been an optomist.
