Reader comment on: CENTCOM's Tunnel Vision
Submitted by Daniel (United States), Jul 7, 2010 11:45
Brillaint analysis of a deeply flawed, and potentially catastrophic attitude shift in some of the centcom team. The report authors may well be right in arguing for accepting disticntions between the hizbollah and hamas, and that they have distinct grievances. They may also be correct in asserting them to be 'opporunist' and (to a degree) 'pragmatic'. Yet the report apparently fails to note the deep held religiously motivated ideologies of the movements. For each pragmatism is a means. Unlike western pragmatism, they have no intention of deviating from their deepest fundamental convictions - that one of the greatest crimes against humanity is the founding of a state that is neither arab nor islamic in the heartland of lands conquered by the first sweep of islam.
Thanks Richard for a brilliant expose!
