Resilience and the Modern Israeli Revival

Every anti-Israel activist loves the word “decolonisation,” but they apply it selectively. The Jewish people are the ultimate indigenous group of the Land of Israel. Archaeological, linguistic, genetic & historical records confirm continuous Jewish presence for over 3,000 years.

The real colonisation began in 636 CE with the Arab conquest, continued under the Ottomans & peaked under the British Mandate, which promised a Jewish homeland but then blocked Jewish immigration while allowing mass Arab migration.

When the British left in 1948, the Jews didn’t “colonise”, they decolonised. They ended 2,000 years of foreign rule over their ancestral land.

That’s the textbook definition of indigenous liberation.

Israel built a flourishing liberal democracy with Arab Supreme Court justices, gay pride parades & Druze generals. Name one other post-colonial state in the Middle East that matches that record. You can’t.

In 1948, half the country was desert or malaria-infested marsh. The Huleh Valley was a mosquito hellhole; the Negev was empty sand. Today Israel exports $15 billion in agricultural tech, grows tomatoes in the desert with 95% less water than the global average, and leads the world in drip irrigation, a technology that feeds half of Africa.

Intel, Apple, Google, Microsoft, all have their biggest R&D centers outside the U.S. in Israel. Why? Because a country under constant siege can’t afford mediocrity. Almost every 20-year-old, man & woman, serves in the army, then studies. Result: 12 Nobel Prizes in science for a country of 9 million (more per capita than any nation ever).

Over 850,000 Jews were ethnically cleansed from Arab countries between 1948–1975. Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, Syria, entire Jewish communities wiped out overnight. Israel airlifted 120,000 Jews from Iraq (Operation Ezra & Nehemiah), 49,000 from Yemen (Operation Magic Carpet, on eagles’ wings, literally), & absorbed them with zero UN agency, zero international aid, zero refugee camps. They became doctors, generals, scientists.

Later: 1 million Soviet Jews, 100,000 Ethiopians (Operations Moses & Solomon, walking through Sudan, airlifted in secret). Israel integrated them all while fighting wars on every front. That’s not “apartheid”, it’s  the opposite.

20% of Israel’s citizens are Arab. They have full voting rights, Arabic is an official language, and they serve in parliament, judiciary, and IDF. Ra’am, an Islamist party, was part of the governing coalition in 2021. Try being a Christian in Gaza or a Jew in Ramallah. You won’t last a day.

Life expectancy for Israeli Arabs is higher than American whites. Infant mortality lower than the EU average. Arab women study at Israeli universities at higher rates than Jewish women in some fields. That’s not “oppression”, that’s integration on steroids.

Every empire that tried to erase the Jews failed. Romans, Nazis, Soviets, gone. Israel buried them all.

Today the BDS crowd screams “from the river to the sea,” but they’re yelling on iPhones powered by Israeli chips, eating tomatoes grown with Israeli tech & taking meds developed in Haifa.

Israel is the only country whose enemies openly declare they want it annihilated & yet it’s never been stronger. GDP per capita higher than France, military tech coveted by every superpower, alliances with India, UAE, Morocco, and quietly half the Sunni world.

Walk through Jerusalem at night, Jews praying at the Kotel, Muslims leaving prayers, Christians singing in the Old City. Hear Arabic, Hebrew, Russian, Amharic, French, all in one bus.

That’s not a colonial outpost. That’s a miracle.

Every Israeli child learns: “Lo yuchal lahem”—they cannot overcome us. Not because we’re bigger, but because we’re stubborn, creative, and morally certain that this land is our home, forever.

Israel is a miracle.

A decolonisation triumph.

A refugee success story.

A democratic beacon in a sea of tyranny.

And it’s not going anywhere.

Not now.

Not ever.

עם ישראל חי—והולך ומתחזק.
