Egypt Finds Gaza Tunnel

The Palestinian Maan News Agency reports that Egypt is finally cracking down on tunnels.
According to the report, Egyptian security forces discovered a1300 meter tunnel that was equipped and likely used several times for smuggling operations. "Egyptian officials currently have no suspects in the case, and plan to destroy the tunnel," Maan reported.
In the past, Egypt has turned a blind eye to smuggling. A strong case can be made that Egypt allowed Hamas to arm itself for the June coup in Gaza by not policing the tunnels. Cairo is currently alarmed over the Islamist state on its border, and will almost certainly stop the smuggling, now that its own national security is at risk.
