Gaddafi: Obama Should Chat Up Osama
by Michael Sharnoff • Jan 27, 2009 at 1:45 pm
Once called the "mad dog of the Middle East" by President Ronald Reagan, Libyan strongman Moammar Gaddafi's latest scheme calls for U.S. President Barack Obama to dialogue with cave-dwelling al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Since coming to power by way of a coup in 1969, Gaddafi has supported various terrorist causes. In 2006, however, the State Department dropped Libya from its list of State Sponsors of Terrorism after Gaddafi agreed to compensate the victims of an attack he authorized in 1988 that killed 270 people. However, as we have noted at the JPC here and here, Libya's leader may still maintain dangerous ties with dictators and terrorists.
Gaddafi's latest outrageous comments should come as no surprise. His quirks are seemingly endless. He demands to be protected at all times by African "virgin" bodyguards. He believes that Libya is the world's only democracy. He also stated that American soldiers must be turned into lambs and eating them is tolerated.
