Holy Land Foundation Trial Gets Going

Three months after 9/11, President Bush shut down the Texas-based Holy Land Foundation, saying it sent millions of dollars to the Middle East to “indoctrinate children to grow up into suicide bombers.” Now the Justice Department must prove it.

Today, jury selection begins in Dallas in the nation’s biggest terror-financing case in history. The government says that 7 HLF officials illegally sent at least $12 million overseas to Hamas.

The stakes are high. The Department of Justice has already failed to get convictions in other high-profile terrorism finance trials in Florida and Illinois.
