Steven Emerson’s Investigative Project has proof that the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Nihad Awad, went to a Philadelphia HAMAS summit in 1993. Previously, Awad had only been identified only as “Nihad LNU” (last name unknown) in FBI reporting, according to this piece in CT Blog.
In a 2003 deposition, Awad said he didn’t recall if he was at the Philly meeting.
What makes this news priceless is that Awad and CAIR are now threatening to sue the Young America’s Foundation and Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch for Spencer’s talk at a student conference, entitled “The Truth About CAIR,” detailing CAIR’s ties to extremism.
