Video: The Battle for Rafah

Colonel (res.) Gabi Siboni

After more than four months of war, the IDF has taken control of the northern Gaza Strip, and its forces continue eliminating the Hamas infrastructure – above and below ground. Progress has also been made in Khan Yunis.

As the IDF moves south, the US and others have raised objections to the nature of a planned IDF operation in Rafah and the adjoining Philadelphi Corridor. Israel deems the operation to be essential in the defeat of Hamas because a) Rafah is Hamas’ last organized military and governmental stronghold and b) in order to free hostages, the IDF must operate in the areas in which they are held.

Join us for a conversation with Col. (res.) Professor Gabi Siboni of the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security.
