The longevity of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire remains in doubt. Hamas recently stated that it is committed to the ‘calm’, yet “cannot talk about stopping smuggling because it is something beyond our ability as a government.”
Questions also arise over the terror group’s ability to control other groups from attacking Israel, such as Palestinian Islamic Jihad. After PIJ’s recent violation of the truce, Hamas has stated that it will not use force to maintain the ceasefire.
To further complicate matters, Hamas may have recently suffered upheaval in its “military wing.”
